The Internet is still in it's infancy, espescially when you consider video on the Internet. Quality video on the Internet has only been available for two or three years. When you compare this to television, we are still in the days of big black & white picture tubes with rabbit ear antennas on top of the set. The infastructure that has been built for much of the Internet is simply not robust enough to handle video. Video is passing 15-30 picture frames every second. Compare this to surfing the web when you open a new page every 2-3 minutes. The amount of data transfer associated with video is many times greater. What this means to you, the viewer, is that your experience viewing the sales will vary greatly depending on your equipment and your Internet provider. The same computer that locks up when watching an auction can work flawlessly when connected to a different Internet provider. Rural areas typically do not have the latest and greatest when it comes to new infastructure. Enjoy the auction, but keep in mind that you may have a different viewing experience than other people watching. This experience/delay can put you at an advantage or disadvantage. If you think you might be behind the auctioneer or he is not getting your bids, call the auction and bid over the phone. |
